Unlike traditional approaches to Buddhism which further established lines of analysis and interpretation, the panels in the Revisioning Buddhism Conference focus on topics which to now have not received the full attention of researchers. These are new topics raised by researchers as Buddhism confronts modernity and globalization.

The Revisioning Buddhism is being held in conjunction with the visit of the Venerable Yifa, the scholar-nun who will be the Numata Visiting professor at McGill University in 2004-05. The Conference will be held on two sites. March 4 panels and activities will be held in the Birks Building of the Faculty of Religious Studies of McGill University, 3520 University Street. March 5 panels, meals and activities will be held at the IBPS Temple (International Buddhist Progress Society), 3831 Jean-Talon East.

The conference is being organized under the Numata Committee of McGill University. We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Numata Foundation of Canada, which is providing both financial and material support, and of the International Buddhist Progress Society of Montreal, which is providing its temple site and its very active cooperation.
