Date Center Founded: Formerly the Islamic Centre of Montreal (incorporated 1957), the Islamic Centre of Québec adopted its name in 1964 in order to legally acquire Civil Status, granted August 6, 1965 when Private Members Bill 194 passed the National Assembly of the Province of Quebec.

Activities and Schedules: Five daily prayers, exact times changing with the season. Friday (noon prayer) in congregation with an address and sermon delivered by the Imam.
Demographics: Muslims from all ethnic backgrounds, Canadians or otherwise, all come to pray, especially Friday prayer. You will hear English, French, Urdu, Arabic, Persian (Afghan) and Turkish.
Description of Centre: The original building, bought in 1967, consisted of a small hall with a kitchen and some small rooms. Two extensions, made in 1972-73 and 1985-86, added greater space and more facilities. The Mosque is now in the midst of Phase I of the third extension; when Phase II is completed, it will accommodate 1000 people.
